It started with small, unexplainable things that I kept trying to ignore.
My keys would turn up in places I never left them, cabinet doors were slightly open, and my bathroom mirror was sometimes fogged even when I hadn’t showered.
At first, I blamed stress, exhaustion, and the kind of memory lapses that come from working too much.
But then the noises began.
Slow creaks in the hallway at night.
Soft footsteps near the attic when everyone else was asleep.
And once, the unmistakable sound of my refrigerator door opening at 2 a.m.
That was the moment I stopped convincing myself it was nothing.
I installed two motion-activated hidden cameras that same evening, telling myself I just needed peace of mind.
The next morning, I opened the footage expecting silence and shadows.
Most of it was empty hallway footage… until 2:17 a.m.
That’s when I saw the attic door slowly creak open from the inside.
A barefoot figure stepped out, wearing an oversized hoodie that swallowed their frame.
They moved carefully, like they already knew the house better than I did.
Then they paused.
And turned directly toward the camera.
For a second, I couldn’t breathe as I saw their face clearly.
Because I realized something impossible had been happening inside my home for weeks…
Someone had been living in my house without me knowing.
