It was late at night during my deployment when I got a text from my fifteen-year-old daughter saying she was scared.
Her message said something was happening at home, but she didn’t fully explain it.
I immediately called her and told her she had done the right thing by reaching out to me.
Even though I was far away, I tried to stay calm so she wouldn’t panic more.
She said things in the house had changed and she didn’t feel comfortable anymore.
I told her to stay strong and promised I would handle everything when I got back.
After the call, I sat alone thinking about everything she had said and what it could mean.
I had two months left in my deployment, but I already knew I couldn’t wait that long to go home.
Something serious was happening, and I was no longer willing to stay silent from thousands of miles away.
